ABOUT BLACK POUND DAY

Black Pound Day (BPD) is the UK's biggest economic movement that addresses the inequalities affecting Black businesses and entrepreneurs in this country.

Its founder, cultural influencer and UK artist Swiss from So Solid Crew, created BPD to increase the visibility of the UK Black economy and encourage consumers from all communities to spend locally and online with Black-owned businesses.

As well as being a highly-acclaimed musician, business leader and author, Swiss founded the Black Pound Day movement with a vision to promote long-term financial growth, infrastructure stability, and empower Black communities and businesses.

Since launching BPD on 27th June 2020, more recently, Swiss opened their first permanent retail store in Europe's biggest shopping centre - Westfield London, and continues to actively support hundreds of businesses across the country.

WHAT GAP ARE DOING

Every Friday in October, Gap will be giving over our social channels to spotlight a Black-owned independent business, where we’ll hear inspiring stories from the founder and learn about their products.

WIN A £2,000 BUSINESS GRANT

We’ll also be partnering with BPD to offer one Black entrepreneur £2,000 to help grow their business.

To enter the competition, simply email bpdcompetition@blackpoundday.uk telling us about your business, what it sells or offers, why you’d love to win, and how you’d spend the £2,000 grant.

The closing date is 31st October 2022 and the winner will be selected next month.
